plaid shawl

Nothing brings me more joy than when two of my favorite things come together to create an ultimate favorite thing (like when bottomless mimosas met brunch, and it was a match made in hungover heaven). I felt the same kind of jubilation when my eyes fell upon this gooooorgeous plaid shawl at a Uniqlo in Tokyo. (Speaking of, I promise my Tokyo travel guide is coming -- life has been absolutely crazy lately -- more on that in a forthcoming post.)

The palette! The fringe! The shape! It was practically screaming, "Take me away and wear me with everything you own for the next six months." And the really insane part? This beauty cost something like 2,400 yen (about $20 USD) -- talk about a STEAL! Best of all, this shawl comes in two other palettes that are perfect for the fall and winter months. And now that I'm thinking about it, I should really invest in those (because I mean, come on, can you ever really have too much plaid or too many shawls?).

Obviously, the centerpiece of this look is the shawl. I wanted to play off its autumn-inspired palette of orange, navy, and white, so I wore navy culottes paired with a sleeveless white top and block heels. Oversized square-shaped hoop earrings add a punch of bold sparkle to an otherwise sophisticated ensemble that's perfect for date night.
