Kimonos are one of my summertime staples (and, yes, I know it's September -- but it's technically summer for a few more weeks -- SO THERE). It's hard to go wrong with a breezy, lightweight cover-up that catches the wind ever-so-perfectly and that practically melts onto your skin. Kimonos exude casual luxury and they leave quite the sartorial impression. I love this one from Brandy Melville. The black and white floral pattern reminds me of something I would've worn in the '90s, back when the flower power trend was making a comeback. (Surely I'm not the only one who drew peace signs and sunflowers on the backs of school notebooks, right? Or maybe I was just an especially enlightened 9-year-old...)
To give this look a little more structure, I paired the kimono with mostly black pieces, including a tank top, lace bralette, and lace-up flats. I like how the darker hues play against the light wash denim shorts and the taupe handbag. Lastly, the necklace adds a bold splash of glamour to an otherwise laid-back ensemble.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to soak up every last ounce of summertime that I can get.
