I am very happy to report that we have survived #Snowzilla2016! Being from the Midwest, Kent and I were highly skeptical about all of the hype surrounding this storm. We're used to hearing that a blizzard will be disastrous, catastrophic, world-shattering, etc., only to see a measly 1-2 inches dust our driveway. Well, it's safe to say that this was definitely one for the record books. We hibernated most of the weekend, staying cozy and warm in the comfort of our apartment with snacks and Netflix. It was refreshing to take it easy for a change -- I'm totally that person who can't relax on the weekends and needs to be as productive as possible. Plus, it's given me a chance to catch up on editing/organizing content for my blog! This look is all about embracing a neutral palette, but adding interest with different textures. Although I tend to wear black with black (and sometimes with even more black), I decided to pair this top and coat with my favorite pair of blue jeans. I've never been much of a jeans gal because I think it's too tempting to dress them down with a T-shirt and sneakers (which, don't get me wrong, is totally fine every now and then). However, I'm learning that blue jeans can be as dressy as you want them to be. One of my tricks is wearing a pair of sleek boots to really up the elegance of an otherwise casual ensemble. I love how these faux leather ShoeDazzle boots complement the top and coat while making the jeans pop.
Accessory-wise, it's all about on-trend pieces and a touch of sparkle. The Hayley satchel from Violet Ray is my latest handbag obsession. The taupe hue goes with literally everything and it's the perfect size for carrying all of your essentials! This Jewelry Storm bracelet is so eye-catching, especially against all of these neutrals. I can see this piece working just as beautifully with some floral frocks and swingy, A-line skirts for the upcoming spring season. I completed this look with these L.G.R sunnies that have the coolest green lenses. This splash of color is so unexpected, yet it really works here.
