urban chic

I'm attracted to the unexpected. When it comes to my sense of style, this is especially true. While I appreciate the essentials (a perfectly elegant A-line skirt, a timelessly tough leather jacket), I also like to mix and incorporate elements that may not naturally fit together. This particular look was built around that philosophy. The style evolution of the original Timberland boot is quite fascinating. It went from being the first waterproof leather boots of its kind -- perfect for laborers who work in demanding conditions -- to somewhat of a cult classic among fashionistas and style tastemakers, most notably in the hip-hop and urban streetwear scenes. There's a grittiness to these boots that adds instant edge to any outfit. So while I may not work on a construction site or in an assembly line, they are a quintessential part of my wardrobe.

For this look, I paired my Timbs with skinny black pants, an oversized black and white plaid shirt, and my favorite wool coat from Zara (previously seen here). Gold hoop earrings add a touch of glam to this urban chic ensemble.
