keep it classic

As previously noted here and here, my go-to look is head-to-toe black. What I appreciate most about an all-black ensemble is its classic silhouette. It's feminine but ultra-modern. It creates clean, seamless lines that are flattering on all body types. Who doesn't love that? For this particular look, I added an element of fluidity by pairing skinny black jeans with an oversized, flowy top. The exaggerated sleeves add just the right amount of drama to an otherwise clean look. Fun fact about this amazing Dolce Vita boots: they cost me six cents. Yes, you read that right: six cents.

Now you may be wondering, "How in the world..?" Well, as with most great finds in life, it was one part good timing and one part sheer luck. In May, we returned to Arizona for a mini Memorial Day vacation and to see some old friends. I think it goes without saying that Arizona has immensely better (and more diverse) shopping options than are available here in Nebraska. (It's a fact I've come to accept, albeit reluctantly. The one positive is I've saved more money and have been better about shopping my own closet.)

One of my favorite spots back in Arizona is Nordstrom Rack, from which we used to live less than a mile away. While Nordstrom Rack is a great place to find everything from a fabulous purse to ridiculously marked down haircare, I love going there for the shoes. They have the best shoe sales (ladies, am I right or am I right?). I happened to walk in on a day when they had additional markdowns on items already on clearance (my favorite type of sale!). I kid you not: These shoes were -- somehow-- already marked down to less than $2 and were an additional 80 percent off! I couldn't believe it (neither could the cashier). Needless to say, it was the find of a lifetime and I wear them with absolutely everything!
