Marilyn Monroe once said, "Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world." Now while there's some uncertainty about whether or not Miss Monroe really did say that, the statement still rings true. It's amazing what the right pair of shoes can do -- not only for an outfit, but for a woman's confidence and self-esteem. And that's exactly what these heels do. Admittedly, this was the first time I've worn these shoes in public since I bought them, oh, say...three years ago. I know, I know. I have a problem. I can't tell you how many shoes and clothing items I've bought on a whim because it was "so cute," but that I never wear because it just doesn't mesh with my work and activewear wardrobes. So one of my objectives in creating this style blog is to force myself to actually wear said items and document it! And I'm starting with these shoes.
So these lovely little gems are really not my type of footwear. When it comes to shoes, my motto is simple: "The higher, the better." I tend to avoid low heels. However, these shoes caught my eye because of the intricate detailing. I instantly gravitated to the bright pink flower appliqués combined with the black and white polka dot print. They have this whole Spanish-flamenco-1950s-rockabilly vibe going on and I LOVE it.
Since the shoes are front-and-center, I kept everything as minimalist as possible. White tank. Black skirt. Boom, done. I added a jeweled flower ring for just a touch of sparkle.
