girl on fire
Do you ever have one of those days where you wake up in the morning and think, "I know I'm going to where [insert x piece of clothing] today."? Now if you're like me, those days are usually few and far between, but still. When they actually do happen, you can't help but feel proud of yourself, as if you've just climbed Mount Everest or saved a small child from drowning. In any case, today was one of those days. I actually knew that I was going to wear this fiery red blazer last night, but I had to wait until this morning to really sort through the outfit's kinks. Originally, I'd planned to wear these great high-waisted black and white trousers from H&M. But I thought I looked a little too theatrical (one day these pants will make their blog debut and you'll see what I mean), so I opted for these gray, high-waisted wool trousers, also from H&M (noticing a pattern?).
I layered a basic black ribbed tank top under the blazer and added a skinny black belt to accentuate my waist. I paired the outfit with the same Steve Madden patent leather heels from yesterday, because like I said, I don't take a lot of risks when it comes to shoes.
This outfit was so easy and a fun way to add color to my day. I'm a firm believer in your outfit affecting your mood, so when you opt for a bright and bold hue, you're likely to have a more positive outlook on life. Naturally, this doesn't mean mixing cherry red with neon green (unless you're going for that whole Christmas-just-threw-up-on-me vibe). It's all about moderation. Pick one in-your-face color and subdue it a little with neutrals and minimal accessories.
