in bloom

My style philosophy is quite simple: make it look effortless. Of course, this is way easier said than done. Sometimes it takes a lot of work to make it look as though no work was involved. Hilarious, right? But there are some pieces that are inherently effortless. You just throw it on, (maybe) brush your hair, head out the door, and -- boom! -- flawlessness ensues. For me, it doesn't get more effortless than a floral maxi dress. It's chic, romantic, feminine, and laid-back all at once. Not to mention, the right floral pattern can really make a lasting statement.

This Forever 21 dress is one of my current faves. I adore everything about it -- from the big, bold print to the side slit to the backless action -- what's not to love? Best of all, it fits like a dream and perfectly drapes against the body, creating a dramatic and unforgettable silhouette.

I paired this beauty with one of my favorite Rocksbox pieces to date: this ah-mazing black onyx wrap necklace by Margaret Elizabeth, which retails for a pretty hefty $185. But, thanks to my Rocksbox subscription, I get to wear designer jewelry without dealing with the inevitable buyer's remorse later. (Don't forget, you can get your first month of Rocksbox completely free by using my code rivasravesxoxo at checkout!)

A black lace bralette adds a little texture and gives the outfit a cool '90s vibe. Black and gold sandals keep the ensemble casual, though I could definitely see this paired with black combat boots for an unexpected tough-girl look or black stilettos for something that's more dolled up.
