so long sweet summer

Oh summer, how we barely knew ye. As we all know, summer unofficially begins over Memorial Day weekend and unofficially ends over Labor Day weekend. So even though there are technically 14 days left of summer, it feels as though it's already come and gone. Summer has always been my favorite season. Summer is all about relaxation and taking it easy. You get a certain sense of freedom in the summer that you don't get in all of the other seasons. I'd go so far as to say that summer is freedom. As the hot, humid days morph into cool, breezy nights, so must one's wardrobe make the transition from swinging sundresses to luxuriant layers. For this end-of-summer look, I paired summer staples (cutoffs and crop tops) with fall essentials (sweater vest and booties) to create the ultimate transitional ensemble. During this in-between time, I shift away from summery, open-toed shoes and opt for boots of all shapes and sizes. I also like to get as much mileage out of my short-sleeved and sleeveless tops before stowing those away during the colder months.

While this time of year (sadly) signals the end of summer, it's the perfect time to experiment with looks that aren't quite summer, but not entirely fall.
